What does a website cost? Prices and factors explained

The honest answer is: it depends. We explain which factors determine the price of a professional website and where the investment genuinely pays off.

Why there is no standard answer

A website is not a product off the shelf, it is a tool for your business. A simple presence for a local trade business requires different work than an online shop with inventory management. Anyone quoting a fixed price without a conversation does not yet know your requirements.

The six factors that drive the price

  • Scope: How many pages, languages and functions do you actually need?
  • Design: Adapting a template, or an individual concept built around your brand?
  • Content: Do texts and images already exist, or do they need to be created?
  • Technology: Static site, content management system, shop, or integration with existing software?
  • Multilingualism: Every additional language means translation, maintenance and SEO work.
  • Operation: Hosting, updates, backups and support are ongoing costs, not a one-off payment.

A rough orientation

As a rule of thumb in Switzerland, a lean, professionally built company website usually sits in the low to mid four-figure range. Online shops and custom applications are considerably higher. These ranges are deliberately broad. The reliable route to a number is a short conversation about your goals.

Where the money is well spent

Do not economise on structure and loading speed. A site that loads slowly on a phone, or whose navigation nobody understands, costs you enquiries every single day. Invest instead in clear content, clean engineering and honest advice.

What you can prepare

The clearer your goal, the more precise the quote. Consider in advance: who do you want to reach? What should a visitor do after the visit? Which three competitors do you like, and why?

Would you like an honest assessment of your project? We will look at it with no obligation and tell you openly what makes sense and what does not.
